Casting
for Performance
An amusing anecdotal team talk that adds another dimension to how we see the development of teams and individuals. Essentially
the talk links the acting profession and its need to ensure good quality casting
of a play or film ensuring cast members not only have basic skills (learning
lines etc) but also can rapidly become a member of the ensemble (team) in order
to deliver great performances. This
links directly to corporate management in terms of bringing teams together
rapidly and having to build rapport and relationships, understand motivation of
individuals and the team dynamics in a very short period of time. I
explain some of the techniques used in acting and the similarities that exist
between the acting and corporate teaming and also how this links to
Tuckmans’ team theories on Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and
Mourning
